Part 141 Enrollment

FAR 141.93 Part 141 Enrollment

FAR 141.93 explains what a Part 141 pilot school must give students at enrollment, including syllabus, safety procedures, and required topics.

In Plain English

FAR 141.93 spells out exactly what a Part 141 pilot school must hand you when you enroll in an approved training course, and what records the school must keep.

At the time of enrollment, the school must give you:

  • A certificate of enrollment showing the course name and the date you enrolled.
  • A copy of your training syllabus.
  • A copy of the school's safety procedures and practices (not required for internet-based courses) covering at least:
    • Weather minimums for dual and solo flights
    • Ramp starting and taxi procedures
    • Fire precautions and procedures
    • Redispatch after unprogrammed landings (on or off airport)
    • Handling aircraft discrepancies and return-to-service approval
    • Securing aircraft when not in use
    • Fuel reserves for local and cross-country flights
    • Avoidance of other aircraft, in flight and on the ground
    • Minimum altitudes and simulated emergency landing instructions
    • Use of assigned practice areas

The school must also maintain a monthly list of everyone enrolled in each course. Why it matters: these documents define the standards you'll be held to during training and on every flight you make under the school's certificate.
