FAR 91.1443 — CAMP Airworthiness Release
FAR 91.1443 explains airworthiness release and maintenance log entry rules for fractional ownership program aircraft maintained under a CAMP.
FAR 91.1443 applies to fractional ownership program aircraft maintained under a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP). After any maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration, the aircraft cannot be flown until qualified personnel prepare either:
- An airworthiness release, or
- An appropriate aircraft maintenance log entry
This release or log entry must follow the procedure in the program manager's manual and certify that:
- The work was done per the program manager's manual
- All required inspections were completed by an authorized person
- No known unairworthy condition exists
- The aircraft is in condition for safe operation
It must be signed by an authorized certificated mechanic — or, if the work was done by a Part 145 repair station, by a person that station authorizes. The program manager can simplify paperwork by stating in its manual that a mechanic's or repairman's signature itself constitutes the full certification. Operationally, this rule ensures every fractional aircraft has a clear paper trail proving it's safe to fly before being returned to service.
