FAR 91.1425 CAMP Maintenance Programs

FAR 91.1425 requires fractional ownership program managers using a CAMP to maintain aircraft under approved maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration programs.

In Plain English

FAR 91.1425 applies to fractional ownership program managers who choose to maintain their aircraft under a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP). If a program manager goes this route, they must have both an inspection program and a separate program that covers all other maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations.

These programs must ensure that:

  • All maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations — whether done by the manager's own personnel or by outside contractors — are performed in accordance with the program manager's manual.
  • Competent personnel and adequate facilities and equipment are available to do the work properly.
  • Every aircraft released to service is airworthy and has been properly maintained for operations under Part 91 Subpart K.

Why it matters: fractional operations carry passengers who depend on consistent, airline-style maintenance oversight. This rule puts the responsibility squarely on the program manager to control how, where, and by whom maintenance is done — and to certify the aircraft is safe before it flies again.
