CAMP Maintenance Training

FAR 91.1433 CAMP Maintenance Training

FAR 91.1433 requires fractional ownership program managers using a CAMP to train maintenance personnel so they're competent to judge work quality.

In Plain English

FAR 91.1433 applies to fractional ownership program managers who maintain their program aircraft under a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP), as well as anyone performing maintenance or preventive maintenance for them.

The rule requires a formal training program for everyone whose job involves judging whether maintenance work was done correctly. That includes:

  • Mechanics performing maintenance or preventive maintenance
  • Inspection personnel who sign off on the work
  • Anyone else who determines the adequacy of work done

These people must be fully informed about current procedures, techniques, and any new equipment being used, and they must be competent to perform their duties.

Why it matters operationally: fractional aircraft are flown hard across many crews and owners. A CAMP only works if the people executing and signing off on maintenance actually know what they're doing. This regulation puts the responsibility on the program manager to make sure training keeps pace with the fleet — preventing airworthiness issues that could ground aircraft or cause in-flight failures.

Regulation Text
