FAR 91.1719 — Credit for Prior Training
FAR 91.1719 explains when training completed before November 7, 2016 under SFAR No. 108 counts toward fractional ownership training requirements.
FAR 91.1719 is a transition rule for pilots in fractional ownership programs under Subpart K. It tells you when training completed before the rule changed still counts.
If you completed any of the following types of training before November 7, 2016, that training is considered compliant with the current Subpart K requirements:
- Initial/transition training
- Requalification training
- Recurrent training
- Level B differences training
Two conditions must be met for the prior training to count:
- The training was conducted in compliance with SFAR No. 108, Section 3 of Part 91.
- The student met the eligibility requirements for that category of training.
- The instructor met the experience requirements of Subpart K.
Why it matters operationally: Pilots and program managers don't have to redo training just because the regulations were updated. As long as the older training was properly conducted under SFAR 108, it carries forward as valid credit, preventing unnecessary duplication of training events.
